SLUT: The Play Boston
Join MIT, The Arts Effect, and the Feminist Press for a historic theatrical event.
May 1-3, critically-acclaimed SLUT: THE PLAY will have its Boston area premiere at MIT (see venue details below). SLUT follows the journey of 16-year-old Joey Del Marco, who is raped by three of her friends during a night out in NYC. Through Joey’s story and those of girls in her community, audiences witness the damaging impact of slut culture and the importance of being heard. The play was developed by The Arts Effect in collaboration with high school students over two years of weekly creative sessions.
This performance will be followed by a discussion panel with the cast, directors, and special guests.
Written by Katie Cappiello, directed by Katie Cappiello & Meg McInerney, and featuring the teen members of The Arts Effect All-Girl Theater Company
StopSlut and its coordinators are grateful to MIT, specifically Kate McCarthy and Angela Lee, for making this event possible, and to our StopSlut donors who are committed to engaging young people in conversation about their health and safety.
